“The Disarmament Commission postponed the organization session for 10 days so that the UN Relations Committee with the host country could meet to resolve Russia's concerns over the issue of an American visa to a delegate,” the organization’s press release quoted TASS as saying.

At a meeting of the commission on February 18, Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's first deputy representative to the UN, said that Vorontsov could not attend the session because he was not issued an American visa on time.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the situation with the issuance of US visas to Russian officials continues to degrade.

On December 19, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution obliging the United States to issue entry visas to diplomats participating in events of the world organization in a timely manner.
