Rosneft implements projects in Venezuela in strict accordance with international and national laws, ”the report said.

It is noted that during the implementation of projects the company carries out exclusively commercial activities, acting in the interests of shareholders, and does not pursue political goals.

As the company emphasized, Rosneft became an investor in the Venezuelan economy long before the imposition of US sanctions, and its activities in the country are associated with the implementation of production projects and trading.

“The company does not violate illegal restrictions imposed by the United States, which has been repeatedly recognized by the American regulator,” Rosneft added.

The sanctions, as stated in the company, are "arbitrary, selective, since other international companies, including American ones, carry out similar activities in Venezuela."

"At the same time, the US Treasury did not provide any evidence of the company's illegal activities, as well as violations of unilateral restrictions imposed by the United States," the press service said.

The United States previously announced the imposition of sanctions against the vice president of Rosneft, Didier Kasimiro.

The Venezuelan sanctions list included the Rosneft Trading SA structural unit, whose chairman of the board is Kashimiro.

Commenting on Washington’s decision, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Russian side does not accept the restrictive measures by which the US is trying to “subordinate the whole world to its will.”
