  • Porpuesta.Arrimadas proposes to Cs "weave alliances" with the PP for the elections of Catalonia, the Basque Country and Galicia

The PP and Citizens on Tuesday have approached positions facing the elections of the Basque Country, in which they would present together and integrate UPyD, if they finally reach an agreement, but not in Galicia , where the orange spokeswoman, Inés Arrimadas, it demands that another "electoral coalition" be reached.

At a meeting in Congress, Pablo Casado and Arrimadas have left the Basque agreement almost closed, but have not achieved a compromise solution for Galicia. The Galician president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who has an absolute majority and aspires to reissue it, demands that the brand be the PP, but is willing to "integrate" citizens' leaders in their lists. Remember that orange formation is residual in Galicia, where it only has 33 of the 3,721 regional councilors.

In the Basque Country, the agreement would be "a coalition that includes people from UPyD - Maite Pagazaurtundua , insurance - and civil society, but is pending the pitfall of Galicia," said Inés Arrimadas. "It has been a very cordial and positive meeting, we have been able to move forward in terms of the Best United formula in the Basque Country, but the pitfall in Galicia continues," he lamented.

Arrimadas has moved a proposal for the PP to maintain its brand, but together with that of Citizens. "Neither the logo nor the name is going to be a problem, because what we want is for the Galicians to have a constitutionalist government," insisted the spokeswoman for Cs, who is going to call Feijóo to try to convince him.

Citizens no longer require that the pact be global in the three autonomies, but speaks of it will try to the fullest. "Our approach in Catalonia is not to ask the PP not to come forward and integrate. In Galicia we would like the same. What we ask in Galicia is what we offer in Catalonia," he said.

"In return we are being very generous and hopefully the PP can overcome this obstacle, because there are two days left and we will continue working until the last minute and being optimistic," he added.

Genoa sources consulted by EL MUNDO are clear: "The agreement in the Basque Country is easy, but in Galicia there will be no coalition," they said. This Tuesday's negotiation has not been isolated. Citizens and the PP have been contacting in recent weeks, but especially since last February 13.

That day, José Manuel Villegas , general secretary of the Citizen's manager, called the landline of the Presidency of the Xunta de Galicia asking for Feijóo, to speak with him, as EL MUNDO has learned.

Villegas spoke with Mar Sánchez Sierra , cabinet director of the Galician baron and she called him to negotiate with Miguel Tellado , general secretary of the PP. They did so on Sunday, in Benavente ( Zamora ), and this Monday by phone. "There is no possibility of changing the PP brand," Tellado told him.
