• Prosecutor's Office: Anti-corruption calls for six years in jail for Consuelo Císcar and five years for Gerardo Rueda's heir for cheating IVAM
  • Expenses. Four million euros from IVAM to buy fake works
  • Legacy: Gerardo Rueda and the 21 million 'hidden' inheritance of his adopted son

The judge of the IVAM case has opened an oral trial against the former director of the Consuelo Císcar museum for a continuing crime of embezzlement, prevarication and falsehood, allegedly committed by buying non-original reproductions of works by Madrid sculptor Gerardo Rueda for about 4 million euros.

The judge, who sees rational evidence of criminality against Císcar, has also agreed to open an oral trial against the former financial director of the Juan Carlos Lledó museum and against José Luis Rueda , son of the deceased sculptor, for the same continuing crimes of administrative prevarication, Documentary falsehood and embezzlement of public flows in their aggravated modality.

Likewise, it has ratified the precautionary measures adopted with respect to the three defendants in order to ensure the possible pecuniary responsibilities that may be declared appropriate.

The prosecutor's office asks for the defendant - former high-ranking with the governments of the PP and wife of former Minister Rafael Blasco, convicted of the Cooperation case - six years in jail and a fine of 144,000 euros.

The Court of Instruction number 21 of Valencia, which investigates what is known as the IVAM case in several separate pieces, issued an order for the opening of an abbreviated proceeding against Císcar and the other two persons last October.

The instructor detailed in the 109 pages of that car the alleged fraud perpetrated by the leadership of the IVAM through the purchase, from public funds, of 58 reproductions of works by Gerardo Rueda.

These creations were acquired, along with another 40 of the same sculptor, who died in 1996, at the price of original works of art, "thereby contravening what was signed in the contracts and thereby illicitly enriching José Luis Rueda in the amount of 2,944,325 euros ", according to the judge; at that cost for the public treasury, the 512,524 euros paid by the IVAM to a private foundation should be added to merge 44 of the works.

In addition, the car added, some of those pieces were promoted "improperly" with exhibitions organized and funded by the IVAM itself, and which had the direct intervention of Gerardo Rueda's son, to "cover up and spread the deception" , with an additional disbursement of almost 720,000 euros.
