When the lifts close at 16.30 in Åre, 15 piste machines run out into the ski system to prepare the slopes for the next day.

- Many of them have winches and we have a cable that we attach to the top of the hill for easier preparation of the hills. The cable is not visible, especially when skiers come at high speed and there are poor lighting conditions, says Anders Aspholm, safety manager at Skistar Åre.

The steel wire can cut off bones and you can also run into it at the height of the neck:

- It is associated with a great danger of being on the slopes after closing, says Anders Aspholm.

"You probably think you can be there and play, but it is associated with quite a lot of danger and risk," explains Anders Aspholm. Photo: SVT

In order to reduce the risk of accidents, special rides have been opened for those who want to go up and down after closing day.
