The largest number of such wills was registered in St. Petersburg (60), Moscow (53), Moscow Region (52), as well as in Bashkortostan (39) and Chelyabinsk Region (37).

“Against the backdrop of“ traditional ”wills, of which 533.2 thousand were issued last year, the statistics on joint wills are not so impressive. However, it must be understood that this is a fairly new legal institution that the Russians have yet to master, ”noted the Federal Tax Service.

Notaries noted that elderly couples who had been married for many years showed significant interest in drawing up joint wills. So, recently in Moscow, a couple who had been married for 57 years turned to a notary public with a request to make a joint testament, they told the Federal Tax Service.

“The main difference between a joint testament and a personal testament is that spouses can establish the legal consequences of their will, depending on the order of deaths. They can also define heirs in various ways, ”the experts explained.

In addition, it is noted that a joint will is quite easy to cancel. It automatically ceases to be valid when the spouses are divorced, and also if one of them wrote a personal will, they added to the Federal Tax Service.

The institution of the joint testament of spouses began to operate in Russia on June 1, 2019.

Earlier, the most forged documents in Russia were named.
