- I recommend that our customers report the police directly. We have a little trouble with the burden of proof, but if you have seen mobile browsing yourself then you are a witness and then you can have the burden of proof in a different way than we can, said Jarl Samuelsson, business unit manager at Västtrafik on Thursday while they want to praise the majority of the drivers who take care of their jobs.

Criticism of the statement

Many drivers heard about the Municipal, with criticism directed at Västtrafik's statement. They feel discouraged and think that in a very tough work situation where the majority of drivers do their absolute best to make everything work, then a statement about notifying the driver of the police comes as a serious hassle.

- I'm fucking upset. We will have a dialogue with Västtrafik that will receive a letter from us. And we will continue to fight so that Västtrafik is with us and not against us, says Martin Andreasson, bus driver and trade union representative for Municipal.

A few drivers who do not do their jobs

About 15 traffic companies work for Västtrafik around Western Sweden and have around 2,000 hired drivers. An estimate from Kommunal says that maybe one or two percent surf, text or talk on a mobile phone while driving.

- We do our best to 100 percent and that West traffic then goes out and invites people and police to report drivers, that is ... yes, I find no words, says Martin Andreasson.

But can you understand that West traffic is a bit desperate, because this is a development that does not seem to get any better?

- I can understand that, and I really want to emphasize that surfing on their mobile while driving, or doing something else that causes the driver to lose focus, is absolutely prohibited. But the problem must be solved in dialogue with the traffic companies and with us in Municipal, not with police reports.
