It is a page of “ history ” which is being written, affirms Benyamin Netanyahu on his Twitter account. His meeting on Monday with the head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council , Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, marks a rapprochement between two previously enemy countries. And according to the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, the two leaders agreed to start " a cooperation that will lead to the normalization of ties between the two countries ".

As a first step, Israeli planes should be allowed to cross Sudanese airspace. This would significantly reduce the duration of flights from Israel to Latin America. The establishment of these links could also allow Israel to expel Sudanese nationals to whom it does not recognize refugee status. But this meeting is especially strong on the diplomatic level: while the Arab League has just rejected Donald Trump's plan for a peace between Israelis and Palestinians, Sudan reaches out to Israel.

With one month of new legislative elections, Benyamin Netanyahu is pleased to make Israel " return " to Africa. His diplomatic results are one of his main campaign arguments. But " the pivot to Africa " launched by the Israeli Prime Minister in 2016 " had failures, " said the Jerusalem-Post daily on Monday. Cooperation with African countries has hardly developed and they have continued to vote for the most part with the Palestinians in international forums.
