A space cake served to children? Police in Nova Scotia, Canada have launched an investigation to find out how cannabis ended up in a cake served at a school party on Friday.

This "molasses cake suspected of containing THC" would have caused discomfort in several adults and children, according to a press release from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The events occurred in Eskasoni, in the northeast of the province.

Throw away leftover cake

"Among the individuals who went to the hospital, some tested positive for THC," added the RCMP. According to the CBC channel, the mother of an 8-year-old girl fell from the clouds when the hospital announced to her that her daughter, taken of the discomfort, had ingested this active ingredient of the cannabis.

The cake was provided by a caterer. The police are looking into whether this is an error or a willful act. On Facebook, the school concerned invited the party participants to see a doctor if necessary and to throw away any food they may have brought home. The consumption of cannabis has been legal in Canada since October 2018, but the minimum age to obtain it is set at 18, and 21 in Quebec.
