- We need a lot more police than we can get. Nevertheless, we get a larger numeric from the police college than other regions get, but it is still not enough. Re-employment also does not occur to the extent that the need is, she says.

"Many more want back"

Figures requested by SVT Sörmland show that the police have reinstated five retired police officers since the police reorganization in 2015. Kerstin Sjöberg believes there are too few.

- It's not enough, there are a lot more people who want to come back, but the information we get is that there are greater opportunities in other industries to raise their salary. Politicians need to become better at giving police officers opportunities to raise wages and strengthen working conditions, she says.

You mean there is a police shortage in the county, how is it noticed?

- For example, the public wants to see police in the streets and squares to increase security. But the police are not always there because other things happen that are prioritized in a different way. What happens here and now is what you have the opportunity to go on, says Kerstin Sjöberg.
