Erik Andersson and his wife Kristina started planning fiber five years ago when they rebuilt their kitchen. But that the wait would be so long they had not expected.

- We thought it was probably fixed in a year. But that was not the case, says Erik Andersson.

"Not what we thought"

It is Jönköping Energi who builds the fiber network outside Lekeryd and according to them, the delays are due to several things. In the first instance, waiting for the EU grant granted in June 2016.

- It was then perfectly realistic to expect that we would be ready by the end of December 2018, but other factors have made it not so, says Mats Lagervall, chief executive officer of Jönköping Energi.

What, for example?

- The soil is much rockier and more rocky than we could imagine. And when we dig, we have to have permits and the processing times of actors such as the Swedish Transport Administration, Sveaskog and private landowners have been very long.

Do you understand if customers in this area are disappointed to have to wait?

- We have a full understanding of it and we are also disappointed. This is not what we intended. It is very boring and we can only complain, says Mats Lagervall.

It takes another seven months

Erik Andersson recently received a letter from Jönköping Energi informing of further delays but with the hope that there will be fiber in about seven months.

- We must believe that. It has never been so easily excavated in the ground as it is now, so it's only just to mobilize the machines and get started and dig, says Erik Andersson.
