The purpose of the day was to give participants an insight into why and how to easily use music and movement in their activities.

- It's not a dance lesson, it's an experience-based activity that anyone can do, says Hugo Tham, who works as a cultural and health developer at Region Halland.

Current research shows that music and movement stimulate the brain in a positive way. By getting more dance into the business, we hope to give patients with dementia an increased quality of life.

- I hope and see all the time that they feel very good about experiencing dance and movement and that is a higher well-being than before, says Hugo Tham.

Positive effects

At Blomstervägen's dementia center in Gislaved people are already working with dance in their activities and this has had positive effects.

- We have pretty much everyone dancing already, with fantastic results. I'm here today to get some new impulses. And as Hugo says "Nothing is right or wrong", so it is only to drive as long as you have fun, says Mimmi Svärd, who works as an activation coordinator at Blomstervägen's dementia center in Gislaved.

Organizers for the day were Region Jönköping County in collaboration with Region Halland.
