British Prince Andrew has not responded to neither the FBI nor the prosecutor's requests for an interview regarding the Jeffrey Epstein case, the New York Times writes.

It was in response to a question from a reporter outside Epstein's Manhattan residence on Monday that Prosecutor Geoffrey Berman expressed the Prince's unwillingness to cooperate.

"Of course willing to help"

After Prince Andrew's disastrous BBC interview last November, explaining his dealings with the six-year-old convicted billionaire, he expressed his willingness to cooperate.

"Of course I am willing to assist the police in their investigation," he wrote in a statement then.

Denies accusations

Epstein, who took his life in custody last summer, had many friends and acquaintances among famous politicians and businessmen. He met Prince Andrew in 1999.

The Prince has been criticized for continuing his acquaintance, and also lived with Epstein, in 2010 after serving a prison sentence for sex crimes in Florida.

Prince Andrew has denied the allegations that he himself had sex with a 17-year-old girl who was one of Jeffrey Epstein's victims. In the interview with the BBC, he said he could not remember ever meeting the girl, the BBC writes.
