The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of Russia held talks with Assad in Syria

“During the conversation, a detailed discussion was held of the situation in Syria and around it, the tasks of ensuring long-term stabilization in eliminating the remaining hotbeds of terrorism, as well as measures to provide comprehensive humanitarian assistance to all those in need throughout the country,” follows from a press release.

The parties also noted the importance of continuing the work of the Constitutional Committee of the SAR.

Earlier it became known about the intention of the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, to visit Damascus on January 29.

In December, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope for an early agreement on the date of the third meeting of the constitutional committee on Syria.
