The hosting announcement came at UNESCO headquarters in France during an event marking the "International Day of Education" in its second session, which is an occasion that is celebrated by member states of the United Nations, its agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, the private sector and individuals.

Given that inspiring, empowering and engaging young people is one of the main goals of Expo 2020 Dubai, the issue of education will be a central focus of the Expo 2020 march over the six months of its convening.
