Nantes, March 3, 2016, the student center on the Tertre campus. - Frédéric Brenon

"It is a shameful and unacceptable act," denounced Olivier Laboux, president of the University of Nantes after the discovery, on Saturday, of Nazi-style tags on the walls of the Student Center at the Tertre campus. A complaint will be made on Monday.

Several inscriptions, including swastikas and Celtic crosses, appeared on the façade on Saturday morning. The city's cleaning services were alerted and the tags were quickly covered. This does not reduce Olivier Laboux's anger.

"This should remind us that the university values of tolerance, openness and debate that we carry are not empty words and that they must be tirelessly defended in the face of foul-smelling ideologies from the far right," insists the president. from the university in a statement.
