The Department of Women and Child Protection at the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police recorded 288 cases last year, 138 cases involving children and 89 cases for women, while the Social Support Section provided care for 61 cases.

One of the cases that the administration dealt with was the 16-year-old Asian teenage incident, who verbally and physically assaulted her parents and caused injuries to her father, while trying to assess her behavior.

The cases also included the incident of a young man who refused to meet and see his mother, who left him 23 years ago, despite the mediation of the administration and an attempt to reunite them.

In detail, the director of the Women and Child Protection Department, Brigadier General Aref Baqer Al-Ahly said, “The administration is keen to contain family disputes as long as they are not linked to an assault or abuse by one party against another.” He pointed out that there is a section specialized in dealing with women's complaints, as they are among the vulnerable groups. He pointed out that the majority of cases recorded during the past year belonged to children, and some of them are negligence, with 138 cases, indicating that the administration is keen to provide the necessary support for this category due to the requirements of the new child law.

For her part, the head of the social support department, Fatima Al-Kindy, said, “Some problems are related to the behavior of adolescents and the parents’ failure to deal with them, such as the case of a girl who previously resorted to the police to complain about her father, but this time the matter differed, as she managed to attack her mother because of her reservations about Her behaviors, and when the father interfered with his fight and injured him in the foot, based on a misunderstanding of the law that no one can restrict her movements.

Al-Kindy added that the parents of that girl provide her with everything she needs, but the hair that connects between care and pampering is cut off, until she behaves in an inappropriate manner and watches outside the home, and when her father maintains her behaviors such as appearing with young men who attacked him, which led him to turn to the administration Human Rights General, and the girl was summoned and seated with her by social workers and made aware of the need to respect and obey the parents.

She pointed out that one of the cases in which he entered the department was also the case of a young man who categorically refuses to see his mother, who left him 23 years ago, pointing out that the mother got married about three decades ago and gave birth to a daughter, then separated from her father and married another, and gave birth to the young man, but for circumstances outside of Her will left her two sons and returned to her country, and after many years she reached out to her daughter who had her independent life after she finished her studies and learned, and the daughter rented a house that she and her mother collected, then she tried to communicate with the son to see him but his position was different, if he was not convinced by the mother's justifications for leaving all of these The years and the desire to see it now.

Al-Kindi stressed that the administration takes into account the human dimension in such cases and tries as much as possible to contain differences and reunification, pointing to the importance of rapprochement between parents and children and the presence of a permanent language of dialogue between them to ensure the continuity of warmth in the relationship between them.
