January 22, 2020 One of the pillars of the M5s is the new regent, the one who following the resignation of Luigi Di Maio as political leader assumes interim leadership of the party according to the Statute: Vito Crimi is in fact the oldest member of the Guarantee Committee , body in which the deputy minister Giancarlo Cancelleri and the regional councilor of Lazio Roberta Lombardi also sit.

Born in Palermo (1972), Brescian by adoption (he moved there in 2000 to work as a judicial assistant to the Court of Appeal), Vito Crimi was the first M5s group leader in the Senate when the Movement entered Parliament in 2013. With Roberta Lombardi group leader in the Chamber had been the protagonist of the unforgettable "streaming" with Pier Luigi Bersani, then secretary of the Democratic Party, in which the two pentastellato exponents closed the door to a government alliance with the Democrats.

Engaged to the deputy of the 5 Star Movement Paola Carinelli, with whom he had a son, and already father of another son in a previous relationship, Vito Crimi is immediately a reference figure of the Movement and not only for his age registry, higher than the majority of parliamentarians who entered Parliament during the two legislatures. In the Conte governments, Crimi was appointed to the executive with the League, undersecretary of state for the Prime Minister with responsibility for publishing. In this phase it also had the delegation for post-earthquake reconstruction in central Italy. With the installation of the second government, Conte Crimi becomes vice minister of the interior.
