Who will be the lucky winner? In the absence of a buyer, Mexico will put its presidential plane into play during a lottery. The Boeing 787 in the colors of the country will be the only lot of an exceptional raffle, organized on the initiative of President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador to try to reduce the lifestyle of the Mexican state, reports the Washington Post .
A blow to the plan of the state lifestyle
In power since December 2018, Lopez Obrador has made the fight against poverty his hobby horse. The Head of State wishes to reduce public spending in order to free up funds to help people in need.
Thus, the presidential residence was transformed into a museum, while the salaries of senior officials were lowered. Finally, some official planes and helicopters were put up for sale.
24 euro tickets
But all did not go as planned, since the presidential plane, acquired in 2012 for the sum of 196 million euros, did not find takers. Lopez Obrador therefore decided to make it the unique lot of a national raffle.
Six million tickets will be put on the market. Cost of the bet: 500 pesos, about 24 euros. The lucky winner must have space in his garage.
