The initial facts date back to the night of July 4 to 5, 2019. A person entered a dwelling on rue du Wagnon, in Tourcoing, after having forced the front door. Personal effects were stolen, including means of payment and administrative documents. To leave the premises, the thief did not hesitate to steal his victim's vehicle, a Renault Twingo, after finding the keys in the house.

He is arrested after a road accident

Some time later, the burglary victim was contacted by the police in Ghent, Belgium, after his Twingo was involved in a traffic accident. Investigations on both sides of the border have determined that the man arrested at the wheel of the Renault was also suspected of having committed the burglary.
