“We are starting work on this, but here we need to solve several fundamental issues,” TASS quoted the Deputy Minister of Health of Russia Sergei Kraevoy.
The minister clarified that the department needed an appropriate animal model, as well as the living virus itself.
“Work is ongoing on the interaction of our institute with Chinese comrades in order to obtain appropriate biological materials,” he added.
Earlier, Kraeva said that the coronavirus spreading in China is one of the biological threats to the population.
On January 21, the Rospotrebnadzor did not exclude the risk of importing coronavirus into Russia, while noting the low probability of its massive spread in the country.
