Putin has appointed the new Minister of Culture of Russia


Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Olga Lyubimova to the post of head of the Russian Ministry of Culture; Vladimir Medinsky will leave this post.

This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Kremlin press service.

"The President of the Russian Federation Putin ... has appointed ... Olga Borisovna Lyubimova as the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation," the statement said.

Medinsky served as Minister of Culture since 2012.

Lyubimova before that worked as the head of the cinema department of the Ministry of Culture.

Earlier it was reported that Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Shoigu retained their posts in the new government.
