The economy that has been shaky for a number of years in Härjedalen Municipality will also be very strained this year.

In the 2019 budget, earnings were expected to be plus six million. But the deficit is expected to be 23 million, ie a difference of almost 30 million. The municipality's result for 2019 Most of the deficit accounted for almost 20 million social services.

Abandonment of elderly housing - but elderly people remain

Of these 20 million, almost 16 million of the elderly care costs were in eastern Härjedalen.

To get the economy in balance, the municipality has, among other things, begun to undertake a major restructuring of the elderly care. Two elderly homes have been closed down: Mobacka in Lillhärdal and Fjällglimten in Vemdalen. Formally speaking. But in practice, some older people still live at Mobacka. What it is about is a settlement of so-called special housing - that is, round-the-clock care - at Mobacka and Fjällglimten. Those who still live there are older people who live in social housing and are able to cope with home care.

Criticism against savings proposals

According to the municipality's estimates, one would save SEK 800,000 per month on the closure of the two elderly residents Mobacka and Fjällglimten.

At the same time as the housing for the elderly would be closed down, the properties that contained the housing for the elderly would be sold, and they were laid out on the Block, among other things.

Another important saving measure has been to streamline the staff's way of working, among other things through schedule changes.

The restructuring of Mobacka and Fjällglimten would be completed by the end of 2019/2020. Hear what Lars-Gunnar Nordlander (S) says about how it has been in the video above.

On the opposition side, several of the savings measures decided on are being questioned. Hear what Billy Anklew's Rural Party says in the video below.

Now is a tough year for the municipality. By the year 2022, the municipality will be overcome not only with last year's deficit of just over 23 million, but also the 2018 deficit of 7 million, that is a total of 30 million. In addition, it is forced to enter with 30 million in Härjegårdar to prevent the housing company from going bankrupt.
