January 21, 2020 "The economic consequences triggered by the default of Arcelor Mittal", that is "the failure of the project to preserve and relaunch company branches", would lead "to an economic impact equal to a 3.5 billion GDP reduction euros, equal to 0.2% of Italian GDP and 0.7% of Southern GDP ".

The lawyers of the commissioners of the former Ilva write it in the memorandum filed in the civil case underway in Milan on the farewell of the Franco-Indian group to the iron and steel center based in Taranto. With the decision of the Tribunal of the Review of 7 January on the faculty of use of blast furnace 2 of the Taranto plant "in fact, the assumption of a large part of the opposing arguments has thus failed", they write in the reply to Arcelor Mittal.

"On shield proclaimed falsehood"
Arcelor Mittal's claim that "the failure to extend the criminal shield over time would make it impossible to implement the environmental plan without incurring liability (including criminal) resulting from environmental problems inherited from previous management" is not a mere mystification but rather a full-blown falsity ", it is still read in the reply from the commissioners' lawyers.

"From illegitimate dissolution of the contract by Arcelor Mittal irreparable damage"
For lawyers "the illegitimate dissolution of the Contract by" Arcelor Mittal "would entail the serious and irreparable damage linked to the failure to achieve the purpose for which the long competitive sale procedure of the years 2016-2018 was aimed (and to which Arcelor Mittal it had undertaken following the stipulation of the Contract) "and" therefore to the definitive and grave frustration of the plan for the industrial relaunch of the Company Branches, and for the economic development and environmental remediation of the areas and territories on which they insist ".

"On contract mystifying thesis"
Arcelor Mittal's thesis of an 'exact execution' of the rent contract of the Taranto plants "is completely mystifying" and leads to highlighting how the group "has never regularly fulfilled the contract and the level of its default has gradually increased as the counterparty understood its inability to manage the branches of the company taken in charge economically ", reads the memorandum.

In the memorandum filed to the civil judge, the commissioners of the former Ilva also complain to Arcellor Mittal not to let him check the conditions of the rented establishment. "Despite the commitments made at the hearing - reads the document - he stubbornly refuses to allow the applicants any type of verification and inspection aimed at checking the actual situation and the correctness of the well-laconic, generic and completely insufficient information received. which evidently precludes in large part from verifying the real and effective depth of the business and management activities of the company branches ".
