A woman died on Tuesday morning on avenue du Canada, in the Bréquigny district, in Rennes. This pedestrian was knocked down by a car around 8 a.m. while crossing the avenue. Alerted, the firefighters could not save the victim of the road accident. The 82-year-old woman was declared dead on the spot by a doctor.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, was also taken care of by the emergency services. In shock, he was transported to the CHU Pontchaillou. According to initial reports, the pedestrian was crossing on a protected passage when she was knocked down by the automobile. An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Two pedestrians killed since the start of the year

It is the second death of a pedestrian since the beginning of the year in Rennes. On January 9, a 20-year-old woman died after being struck by a police car not far from the Châteaudun bridge. A 23-year-old man was also seriously injured.
