January 21, 202021.38 Thirteen years and 6 months for corruption. This is the sentence for the former Interpol head, Meng Hongwei, tried in China, his country of origin. Meng had disappeared in September 2018 from Lyon, Interpol's headquarters, and his wife had raised the alarm to the French police. For 10 days, nothing, then the Chinese authorities had communicated the arrest of Meng, during a trip home, for offenses committed when he was deputy minister in China. Meng, who has pleaded guilty, will not appeal, including a fine of around 260,000 euros for him.
