The Russian Foreign Ministry appreciated the threats of Iran to withdraw from the NPT

“This is not the new position of the Iranian side. They at various levels in the past have repeatedly designated such an option. Iranian colleagues are well aware that we do not think it is right to question Iran’s commitment to the NPT obligations, ”RIA Novosti quoted Ryabkova as saying.

According to him, the Russian side recognizes the agreement as key to ensuring global security, especially considering the “disturbing processes” in the field of arms control and non-proliferation.

“We hope that this will not come to this,” Ryabkov emphasized.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Tehran would withdraw from the NPT if European countries send a case on Iran’s violation of the nuclear program to the UN Security Council.

In November, Iran also allowed the country to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
