According to TASS, Tugushev indicated that the fire was due to smoking of the patient in bed.

“He had cigarettes with him, he smoked periodically. The center’s employees tried to stop these actions and brought such patients to specially equipped smoking areas, but since there are many patients and not so many laboratory assistants, it sometimes happened that it was not always possible to immediately stop smoking, ”he said.

According to him, the patient sometimes left an extinguished cigarette under the mattress, but on the day of the fire he did not finish it.

“Decay went, the mattress began to smoke and a fire occurred. This version was confirmed as a result of the audit and the perpetrator was the culprit, ”he concluded.

On December 31, 2019, a fire broke out in a neuropsychiatric dispensary in Udmurtia, as a result of which six people were injured, one of whom later died.
