Today, the Criminal Court in Ras Al-Khaimah commenced the trial of a young Asian man accused of drinking a quantity of "alcoholic beverages" and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and assaulting the safety of the motorcyclist's driver with the intention of colliding with him and causing his death.

According to the prosecution’s indictment, the accused person consumed a quantity of “vodka”, assaulted the victim’s body and crashed into his vehicle with the victim’s bike, intending to hit him and cause injuries that led to his death.

She explained that the accused had driven a vehicle under the influence of narcotic substances, and had driven a vehicle that had been expired since 2016, and fled from the scene of the accident and did not stop after the accident was committed and did not inform the competent authorities or ambulance to save the victim, and also destroyed the wall of a house.

The defendant denied before the court the charges against him, of drinking "vodka" on the day of the accident, and indicated that he had consumed the alcoholic drink the day before he committed the incident and not on the same day.

He explained that he does not mention the details of the incident and does not know whether he collided with the motorcycle driver or the wall of a house, and continued that he did not intend to collide with the victim when the accident occurred, and that the vehicle he was driving was safe 10 days before the accident.

He added that he did not report the incident to the competent authorities and fled the scene because he was in a state of fear, and the court offered the defendant the presence of a defense lawyer with him during the trial sessions, and the court postponed the case to a session next week to complete the trial sessions.

The details of the case will be returned when the Ras Al Khaimah Police received a report stating that a motorcycle driver was seriously injured as a result of a collision by a vehicle on one of the emirate's roads, where an ambulance was sent to the place and the injured was taken to the hospital, but he died due to his severe condition.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police report added that the search and investigation of the driver responsible for the accident was carried out and it was found that he was drunk, as it was found that he was driving an expired license since 2016, in addition to colliding with a wall of a house and causing damage to it at the moment of the accident, as The accused was referred to the Public Prosecution in Ras Al-Khaimah and from there to the criminal court on charges of committing a felony, which is the cause of the death of the victim by assaulting his safety with the intention of colliding with him while the latter was riding his motorbike on one of the emirate's roads, as well as driving a vehicle under the influence of narcotic drugs and without a license from the authorities Competent.
