“The Libyan parties took a small step forward compared to the meeting held on January 13 in Moscow: they agreed to delegate five representatives each to a military committee created on the initiative of the UN,” RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.

He explained that within the framework of this committee, "all issues related to ensuring a truce will be considered."

It will include five representatives from the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, and the head of the Libyan National Accord Government, Faiz Sarraj, who, according to Lavrov, "will be engaged in the development of concrete confidence-building measures that will make the cease-fire sustainable”.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the creation of a five-by-five military commission following the results of the Libyan settlement conference.
