Russia will not allow anyone to forget the history of the Great Patriotic War. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin in the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin "on the channel" Russia 1 ".

“We don’t have to prove anything to anyone and we have to do something else. We must do everything so that this truth is not forgotten. We must contrast this with objective information, which we have enough, ”he said.

So, according to Putin, for this purpose Russia will create an archive center with documents, videos and photographs.

“We will create a center from archival documents, video and photo materials, which for decades to come, and maybe for a much longer period of time, will not allow anyone to distort this story in order to achieve some of their opportunistic, momentary political goals, damage the memory of our people, the memory of our fathers, grandfathers who gave their lives in the fight against Nazism, ”the head of state said.

“Everything is forgotten, everything is erased. We cannot allow anyone to erase, we will not allow it, ”Putin emphasized.

Putin announced the creation of a center for archival documents and materials during a message to the Federal Assembly on January 15. As the president noted, this will be the “largest and most comprehensive complex” available to both Russians and foreigners. On January 18, he noted that this would not make it possible to overshoot historical facts.

“We will shut our mouths to those who are trying to rewrite history, misrepresent it and belittle the role of our fathers, our grandfathers, our heroes, who perished, defending their homeland and protecting the whole world practically from the“ brown plague ”- from Nazism,” he said.

The creation of such a center will allow access to all declassified data in one place, said military historian Yuri Knutov.

“This is a very good idea. Already now, the Ministry of Defense is uploading documents, they can be used, they are in the public domain. Including, documents are laid out on the dead soldiers, you can find your relatives. Other archives in this case are still poorly involved. And the creation of such a center means that all declassified documents will be collected in one place, ”he told RT.

“For the sake of political conditions”

It should be noted that recently, on January 17, the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Warsaw from German occupation was celebrated. In Moscow, a salute was given in honor of the anniversary, and the Ministry of Defense published archival documents on the liberation of the Polish capital. In particular, they testify to the terrorist nature of the activities of the underground Home Army, as well as assistance to the Warsaw uprising by the Red Army.

However, in Poland itself this date is not celebrated. According to RIA Novosti, only two private street events were registered on this day in Warsaw. The city’s press service said that “January 17 is not a date officially celebrated in Warsaw for many years.”

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed bewilderment at the decision of local authorities.

“If we talk about an obvious trend, then I can’t understand how you can mark the start date of the war and at the same time practically ignore the release dates? At the same time, the preconditions for the outbreak of war and the pre-war situation are completely distorted. At this pace in Europe, anti-fascists will again be forced to go underground, ”she wrote on Facebook.

Later, the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky said that the data published by the Russian Ministry of Defense was “an attempt to rewrite history”, and also said that the USSR did not liberate Warsaw in 1944, but brought “new communist slavery”.

Commenting on these words, Russian Ambassador to Warsaw Sergey Ananyev noted that in Poland historical facts are interpreted and selected in such a way as to correspond to a certain political position.

“The problem is that, for the sake of the current political situation, within the framework of the so-called historical politics, the facts of history are interpreted, selected so as to prove certain historical postulates that, in fact, often have no connection with history,” the ambassador said.
