The discovery was made in the 1930s during a plowing in Vederslöv in Växjö municipality by a relative of the submitter. The ring had been in the family's ownership for 80 years when the man chose to submit it to the county administrative board.

The findings were then sent to the National Antiquities Office for assessment and they believe that the ring has a high scientific value and is invaluable in cultural-historical terms.

The National Antiquities Office further writes in its assessment that the ring consists of a seal or signet ring made of copper alloy with thin gilding. It has the inscription NM in a coat of arms and is in good condition but has some damage both from when it was used and when it has been in the ground.

SEK 300 in total salary

According to the National Antiquities Office, the new knowledge that the discovery contributed to from a cultural-historical and scientific perspective is invaluable, therefore compensation must be based on the economic value. The ring should be worth SEK 2500, the submitter will receive SEK 300 in total salary.

The Småland cultural park has expressed interest in taking over the ring.
