Today, it differs around the country, whether it is the municipalities or parents who are responsible for the diapers for the children who attend preschool.

A ruling from the Administrative Court of Appeal states that an independent preschool in Värmdö municipality must provide diapers for the children, because according to the school law no more fees than the preschool fee from parents may be charged. Previously, it has not been clear whether diapers should be regarded as an extra charge or not.

Nordmaling is one of the municipalities in the county where parents today bring diapers to preschools.

SKR shall make recommendations

There, the preschool principal Cecilia Karlsson started to figure out what it would cost for the municipality to buy diapers instead.

- We end up at around SEK 150,000 per year. We do not include it in our budget for 2020, says Cecilia Karlsson.

Now Sweden's municipalities and regions will make recommendations to the country's municipalities, which are expected to come within the next few weeks.

- We are now waiting for directives from SKR how we will do in the future.

In the clip above, Cecilia Karlsson tells us what she thinks about the judgment and how it can affect the municipality.
