That says the Echo.

The mild weather means that all five Swedish icebreakers are at the quay. This means major savings for the Swedish Maritime Administration, reports Ekot.

Today, there is only ice in the northernmost Swedish archipelago. At sea, it is largely open water and no assistance from icebreakers is needed.

- The net saving for us at present is anywhere from 150,000 to 300,000 per day, says Amund Lindberg, operations manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration's icebreakers management, to the radio.

Usually, some icebreakers are usually in operation this year, he says.

- It is close enough historically, we must go back to the extremely mild winter 2007-2008, then we had about the same situation. The difference was that we only had a unit out a few days later, we know today that we will not have.
