The source, who is a police officer with the rank of first lieutenant, said that unknown gunmen in a civilian car opened fire with pistols at the commander of the Karbala Brigade in the popular crowd, Talib Al-Saadi, in Al-Sadr neighborhood, east of Baghdad.

He added that Al-Saadi was killed at the scene of the attack, while the security authorities opened an investigation into the accident and transferred the dead body to the forensic medicine department.

In another attack, a local source in Karbala reported that unknown gunmen opened fire yesterday, Saturday, on the owner of a commercial store in Al-Qadisiyah neighborhood, north of Karbala, which led to his death on the spot, adding that "the security services opened an investigation into the accident, while the dead body was taken to medicine Judicial. These incidents come one day after two journalists were assassinated by unknown gunmen in the southern city of Basra.

It is noteworthy that the assassinations in Iraq have been repeated and particularly affected by activists in the protests and journalists, since the start of the popular anti-government protests and the ruling political elite in early October.
