Political crisis in Tunisia. The new government resulting from the legislative elections of October 6 did not receive the vote of confidence of the Parliament. MPs said no to the team led by Prime Minister-designate Habib Jemli.

Designated on November 15 by Ennahdha, the first party in Parliament with 54 seats, Habib Jemli could not convince a fragmented Parliament.

First failing to rally a parliamentary majority around a common project, the former secretary of state claimed to have finally privileged skills and not parties by " forming a team of independents ".

His list was quickly criticized, however. Some parties deemed her too close to Ennahda and others not sufficiently competent.

In recent hours, even the Islamist-inspired party, which nevertheless instructed it to form the government, still expressed reservations about certain names of the Jemli team.

This setback signifies the failure of the boss of Ennahda and president of the Parliament Rached Ghannouchi, who led the discussions behind the scenes.

Now, Head of State Kaïs Saied is to launch consultations to appoint a new head of government. Once appointed, he will have one month to form a government and receive the approval of Parliament. Otherwise the president may decide to dissolve the National Assembly and convene new legislative ones.
