"France has abandoned" the former Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, who fled Japan, where he is accused of financial embezzlement, accused Marine Le Pen on Thursday.

"I am surprised by one thing, is that faced with conditions of detention and perhaps the rights of defense, which are not as correct as in France, what has France done? did the consular assistance that normally should be given to all French people? "asked the president of the National Rally on RTL.

"The government has done absolutely nothing to be able to establish ties with Japan for (...) respect for the defense rights of Mr. Ghosn who is a Frenchman," said the far-right leader. "I think France has abandoned it".

However, Mr. Ghosn "most certainly had reprehensible behavior, perhaps even criminally and morally reprehensible. I have no admiration for him," added Ms. Le Pen.

"He chose to flee to Lebanon. Why did he not choose to join France since he is a French citizen, where he could have been tried, where he could have demonstrated his innocence under conditions of justice which respect the rights of the defense? ", she continued.

Marine Le Pen also deplored that Mr. Ghosn had "turned around Renault but massively outsourcing jobs".

The member for Pas-de-Calais finally said that she was "not fooled that justice in certain countries can be used to support the economic interests of the country in question".

The former CEO denounced a "coup" against him on Wednesday during a first public appearance in Beirut since his gigantic flight from Japan, where he is accused of financial embezzlement.

After its press conference of 2:30 am in the presence of some 150 journalists, Tokyo qualified as "unacceptable" the criticisms of Mr. Ghosn against his justice.
