Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said that his country seeks through a series of contacts, to consult and coordinate with friendly and brotherly countries in order to calm and reduce escalation in the region.

The minister added in a tweet on Twitter, that Doha is closely following the developments in Iraq and the crucial stage the region is going through that requires the unison of efforts that do not fight it, and to provide the group and pluralism, not unilateralism, in finding solutions and building bridges of communication.

The Qatari foreign minister visited Tehran after the assassination of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Qassem Soleimani, last Friday, where he discussed with his Iranian counterpart regional developments, and ways of calm to maintain collective security for the region.

A statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the Qatari minister stressed the sensitivity of the current situation, and stated that a peaceful solution must be found to reduce tension and restore stability in the region.
