Sheikha Azza bint Rashid Al Nuaimi, head of the Women and Child Protection Foundation, confirmed to “Emirates Today” that the Foundation was able during the year 2019 to solve most of the cases that it reached before reaching the courts, pointing out that during the past year it had received 96 cases of violence against children and women, including 41 complaints related to children and 55 complaints related to women.

She said that “Protection” was able to provide all the needs of the abused children and women, either by sheltering them until their problems were solved, or by resolving the issue by mutual consent in cooperation with the Social Support Center in Ajman Police without reaching the courts.

She indicated that the Foundation monitored during the past year nine causes of violence against women, as marital disputes and family problems topped these causes by 24%, followed by problems of non-spending by 20%, then physical violence by 16%, separation and divorce problems by 12%, and children custody followed And legal vision by 9%, financial problems by 7%, mental disorders by 5%, issues of unknown proportions by 3%, and sexual assaults by 4%.

She pointed out that the statistics showed that the majority of the ages of cases that were subject to violence or violence by the other party were confined between (26-45) years, due to some reasons, the increase in the financial cost of the family as a result of the natural increase in their number and the needs of its members, and the cooling in the relationship between the two partners (Husband and wife) due to age and children's problems, noting that there are 4% of cases received by the institution were for age groups between (45 -60) years.

She indicated that the cases of violence against children centered in the age groups from one to 17 years, noting that the number of male victims of violence is 34 children, and the female is 28 girls, and the largest percentage of cases that reached the institution between 7 and 10 years was 18%, followed by The age group between 14 and 17 years was 15%, and after that it was for ages 4 to 6 years, at 14%.

Sheikha Azza Al-Nuaimi reported that the Foundation monitored seven causes of violence against children, namely neglect and abuse problems which were 21% of the number of cases, followed by problems of identity documents with 20%, physical and verbal violence by 19%, school problems by 15%, and problems of unknowns Sex ratios and attacks are 10% each, and behavioral problems are 5%.

She indicated that the Foundation was established with the aim of keeping pace with the UAE’s directions to build a safe society and is free from violence in all its forms, noting that there were humanitarian cases that were received and assisted in the past year, which are cases that need substantial social support, confirming that the Foundation’s work continues to support all societal groups.

The President of the Foundation for the Protection of Women and Children said that the Foundation receives communications around the clock from all groups that it believes need help, pointing out that the Foundation provides emergency shelter and various services, noting that the Foundation is keen to rehabilitate the victims of violence and integrate them into society, as they are considered a class. Poor need those who take them out of the pain and loss they are suffering.
