By Tiziana Di Giovannandrea June 28, 2018 A strong explosion, just before 2 pm on June 28, devastated a ground floor apartment in Livorno, in the central area of Sant'Andrea Cisternone.

A woman who has been burned for 95% of her body is serious. There are three injured in total: the 52 year old woman severely burned, a 57 year old mother and her 15 year old daughter who lived on the upper floor of the building.

The victims of the explosion were immediately transported to the Emergency Department of Livorno but for the severely burned woman, given her conditions, 118 alerted the helicopter rescue for the transfer to the big burned center of Pisa. Possible a new transfer to the big burn center in Genoa.

The conditions of the 52-year-old woman, originally from Turin, who lived in the exploded ground floor apartment, are very serious and are called "desperate". For the other two people transferred to the Livorno Hospital, the other woman and her 15-year-old daughter, who live on the upper floor, it would be a slight intoxication caused by the fumes of the fire that developed after the explosion. "I live in the building opposite - said a witness residing in the street - I heard a bang and I left the house. In front of me I saw the woman who lives at number 33: she was unrecognizable".

The causes of the outbreak are still unclear. In all likelihood, a forgotten gas bottle in the basement exploded. The Fire Brigade, the Police, the Carabinieri as well as the emergency vehicles and the 118 doctors immediately intervened on the spot. Apparently, the explosion caused the attic of the house to be raised by at least half a meter, located on the floor land: checks on the usability are in progress.
