On Thursday, Mattias Öjenhed from Borlänge was out ice-skating on Lake Runn in Falun. It was good conditions and he decided to share photos from the day in a Facebokk group for ice sailors. There, the Swedish and world elite in ice sailing got to see the pictures and they quickly decided to come to Dalarna.
- I went to Lake Vikas on Friday night and saw that it was perfect, so I called them and said it was the absolute best place to be and on Saturday morning it was really perfect, says Mattias Öjenhed, who himself works with ice sailing as a hobby and take the opportunity when given.
- What is special about ice sailing is that it becomes so unique. All factors should be correct, good wind, good ice and good conditions. It is possible to sail on snow too, but this day it was quite mirror-shiny and the ice was a decimeter thick, it really became a unique opportunity, he says.
