• Draw: Six curiosities of the Children's Lottery

The celebration of the El Niño raffle will be the culmination of the Christmas holidays with the cast on Kings Day of 700 million euros in prizes, the same figure as the last two years.

The second most important draw of the National Lottery will start on Monday, January 6 at 12 noon in the State Lottery and Betting Sweepstakes Hall and will be done by the multiple bomb system.

This year, El Niño will endow the first prize with 2 million to the series; the second, with 750,000 euros; and the third, with 250,000 euros per series.

That is, for every tenth, which costs 20 euros, 200,000 euros are won from the first prize ; for every tenth of the second, 75,000 euros; and for every tenth of the third, the prize is 25,000 euros.

The draw will begin with the extraction of five two-digit endings, then fourteen of three figures and, subsequently, two of four, before moving on to extract the third, second and first prize balls, in that order, and two final refunds.

For this draw, 50 series of 100,000 tickets have been issued each, at the price of 200 euros the ticket, divided into tenths of 20 euros.

850,755,000 euros have been recorded this year, which represents an average of 18.21 euros per inhabitant , an amount far exceeded in communities such as Castilla y León (27.79 euros), Asturias (27.28) or Valencian Community ( 25.44), according to data provided by LAE.

On the contrary, where less lottery will be purchased will be in the Balearic Islands (10.75 euros per inhabitant), Extremadura (12.83) and Catalonia (13.04), in addition to Ceuta and Melilla, which have an average consignment of 4, 38 euros and 4.23 euros, respectively.

According to the technicians of the Treasury (Gestha) , the State will earn less this year with the taxation of the prizes because the minimum tax exempt since January 1 has doubled to 40,000 euros. Thus, says Gestha, the Treasury will enter 19.5 million euros for the taxes of the awards, 4.5 million less than the previous year. And it will only have to pay those who win the first or second prize, which are the only ones that exceed the exempt limit of 40,000 euros in force for this year.

The special assessment of lotteries, recalls the Tax Agency on its website, is applied in the form of withholding by the administration or entity that pays the prize, so that the winners will not have to carry out any additional procedure.

Prizes over 40,000 euros will have to be taxed at a rate of 20% in the part that exceeds this figure , in addition to identifying the winner.

The cities in which El Niño first prize has fallen the most have been Madrid (41), Barcelona (36), Bilbao (18), Valencia (14) and Seville (10).

And the most awarded endings throughout the 114 years in which there has been a raffle - the first references to El Niño are from 1868 - have been 0 (21 times), 7 (14) and 4 (12), while that 3 and 8 have been the least graceful (with 6 and 8 first prize reimbursements).

Sales in 2019 amounted to 730.9 million euros: 3.6 million tickets were sold, which meant an average expenditure of 15.64 euros per inhabitant.
