The Angolan courts decided to seize the property of Isabel dos Santos and her husband, Sindika Dokolo. The daughter of the former president and her spouse are accused of causing more than a billion dollars in losses to the Angolan state. A decision contested by the couple.

Luanda questions their partnership with state-owned companies like Sonangol for petroleum and Sodiam for diamonds. For Angolan justice, it is proven that the state, plaintiff in this case, is founded to claim more than a billion dollars from the couple. Through his two companies, he would have transferred huge amounts of foreign currency to companies abroad whose final beneficiaries were Sindika Dokolo and Isabel dos Santos, without " the agreed return ".

► To listen again : on RFI, Sindika Dokolo denies these accusations

In the case of Sonangol , Exem Energy BV, presented as a couple company, still owes the state oil company 75 million euros. This company tried to repay this debt in kwanza, the national currency, just before Isabel dos Santos left the head of Sonangol, and this while the kwanza continues to devalue and is almost no longer convertible. The debt had been contracted in euros.

Most assets abroad

Same accusation on the side of Sodiam. The diamond company had invested alongside the couple to buy De Grisogono, the Swiss jeweler who was experiencing serious financial difficulties at the time and continues to do so. Sodiam said it never benefited from its investment of some $ 150 million. The court ensures that the conditions required for a preventive attachment are fulfilled, but recalls that most of the assets of the two interested parties are them abroad.
