The majority union of the National Police, Jupol, and the second in representatives, the SUP, have denounced disinformation maneuvers by the Bolivian Government in the GEO incident. The unions explain that the photographs (taken from the Immigration forms) disseminated in the local media with the images of the agents do not correspond to the GEOs that were at the Mexican diplomatic headquarters in La Paz.

The unions claim that they are agents of the Spanish National Police in Bolivia, "but neither belong to the GEO nor were they in the incident" in which those who cornered a group of people. And even so, they also denounce that this type of broadcasting threatens the security of the agents deployed there. The photographs of the faces of Spanish officials were filtered on social networks and used to attack the supposed "colonialism" of Spain.

In addition, Interior sources explain another alleged maneuver that, they say, does not correspond to reality. Bolivian Minister Arturo Murillo, the same who on Saturday asked that the Spanish diplomatic delegation be replaced and declared "non grata", including agents, announced this Sunday through WhatsApp that six of the police deployed at the embassy were They had already marched to Madrid.

The right hand of the provisional president, Jeanine Áñez, said that the GEO agents involved in Friday's incidents moved in that group. However, Interior sources strongly deny that none of the agents currently assigned to the embassy have left the country. Including those who do not belong to the GEO and are dedicated to other tasks.

It is true, the same sources explained, that at some point they will leave the country, because this is foreseen in the usual relays that the police officers do in all embassies. In the case of GEOs, these relays occur less and less than in other agents, since they are destined to places with more pressure and carry out the most painful tasks in the protection of diplomatic missions. This characteristic means that every certain month they are replaced by other partners.

The aforementioned police unions, in addition to the Spanish Confederation of Police (CEP), agree on the other hand to require both the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Police to publicly support their partners. They insist that their performance was totally correct before, as EL MUNDO already advanced on Sunday, a situation that is suspected of being an "encerrona", a consequence of the permanent vigilance suffered by the Mexican embassy for having refugees to several former senior officials of the Deposed Evo Morales.

Official support

The different Interior and diplomatic sources consulted by EL MUNDO, as well as the official note of the Spanish government, categorically deny that the four Spanish policemen had the mission of rescuing any of the 10 senior positions of the Morales government who are refugees in the residence of the Mexican ambassador in La Paz. Even the thesis that they tried to extract the almighty former Presidency Minister Juan Ramón Quintana had its origin in the shouts launched by one of the exalted ones who participated in the "encerrona" against the Spanish agents.

Shouts that in a few minutes became a dogma of faith for media and supporters of the provisional Government, who have not shown evidence that the alleged rescue was to be carried out.

In the next few days it is planned that the Spanish mission sent by Foreign Affairs to investigate the details of the case will arrive in Bolivia. Margarita Robles, acting Foreign Minister, will appear later in Congress to report on an incident that has deteriorated relations between the two countries.

"We want to express our concern and protest on behalf of the Bolivian government against the actions that constitute an abuse of friendship that has always existed between Spain and Bolivia," said Foreign Minister Karen Longaric.

Paradoxically, the Spanish mediation, in coordination with the European Union, the Catholic Church and the UN, was definitive to unlock the dead end in which Bolivia had transformed after the resignation of Evo Morales and the assumption of the provisional administration.

Tactical panties

Finally, the briefs sent on Sunday by the unions endorse the version that the GEOs were not hooded to go to the residence of the Mexican ambassador, but instead of the tumult created to not let them out of the area, they got out of the car and They partially covered their faces with the "tactical panties" they wore. The unions also deny that agents exhibited weapons. It is true that they were armed, but because international legality allows it within diplomatic cars, and they would not have come down from them if it were not for the incident, the sources consulted by this newspaper reported.
