This was stated by the official representative of the Secretary-General Stefan Dujarric.

“The Secretary General is still very concerned about delays in the issuance of visas by the host country to some representatives of the Russian Federation and other Member States to attend UN meetings in New York,” he told RIA Novosti.

According to Dujarric, Guterres and his team "will continue to closely monitor this issue."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Antoniu Guterres “actually ignores” violations and unfair competition from the United States against Russian employees of an international organization who encounter problems in obtaining American visas.

According to her, all this happens “with the clear connivance of the Secretary-General.”

On December 19, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution obliging the United States to issue entry visas to diplomats participating in events of the world organization in a timely manner.

In the fall of 2019, the United States did not issue visas to 18 Russian diplomats to participate in the work of the UN General Assembly.
