At 18 o'clock on Thursday, an alarm was received about a fire at a school in Botkyrka in southern Stockholm.

The rescue service is in place and pictures from the site show that it is moving strongly from the school building.

- It is burning in a school, we have just arrived at the place. We have a unit that works on site, says the intervention manager on site.

Confirms that it has burned

Anna Westberg, spokesperson for the Stockholm Police, confirms that it has burned at a school.

- We got the alarm shortly after 18 and initially it was a burglar alarm but then a fire alarm went off from the school.

When police and emergency services arrived, smoke was seen coming from the school and could quickly locate the fire.

Police say it burned in a classroom.

- A window is broken and we suspect that someone caused the fire, says Anna Westberg.

The police have been in contact with people who have been close to the crime scene but at present no one is suspected of the crime.
