The alarm came after someone saw a boat lying on the lake. According to the police, the rescue service, the maritime and air rescue center and the ambulance were alerted to Skärsjön where an alternative two people should have ended up in an emergency.
According to SOS, two people must have been out on the lake in a canoe. The canoe has probably overturned and only one person is said to have returned to shore at present.
The rescue service searches by boat. Police are on site to assist the rescue service.
- One person has managed to get ashore, and we are looking for the other. You have the darkness against you now and it is cold in the water and it has been a long time since the accident happened. Right now, divers, surface lifeguards and helicopters are going on, says Stefan Rane Rescue Service.
"We are assisting the rescue service with a helicopter searching the lake, they have been there since 15.12, so far they have not found the missing person," says Mikael Bergström, assistant sea rescue leader.
