Russian President Vladimir Putin called complete delirium the resolution of the European Parliament, which puts the Soviet Union on a par with Nazi Germany. He gave such an assessment during a meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, talking about a previous meeting with leaders of the CIS countries.

“I said there that in some countries, our neighbors in Europe, and overseas, often try to distort history ... And as a logical conclusion to this process just recently, our colleagues in Europe, the European Parliament adopted a resolution that actually puts almost not on the same board and Hitler's Germany, and the Soviet Union, alluding to or directly even saying that the Soviet Union is responsible for the outbreak of World War II. This, of course, is complete nonsense, ”he said.

Putin recalled that the non-aggression pact between the USSR and Germany was concluded by the last of all European states - other powers and representatives of the Nazi regime agreed on a similar thing before that. Putin emphasized that Russia has enough archival documents that will not allow to distort history.

The Russian leader believes that Western countries and Poland “have actually entered into a conspiracy with Hitler,” as evidenced by archival documents. In favor of this, Putin added, the Munich Conference, which went down in history as the “Munich Conspiracy,” says that in the course of it, Western countries actually gave Germany the Sudeten region of Czechoslovakia.

However, stronger than this, Putin admitted, he was hurt, as the leadership of Nazi Germany and Poland discussed the "Jewish question." So, Hitler proposed to expel all Jews to African colonies. In response, the Polish ambassador in Berlin said that in this case the Führer would be erected “a magnificent monument in Warsaw”.

“You bastard, an anti-Semitic pig - you can’t say otherwise. He fully solidified with Hitler in his anti-Jewish, anti-Semitic moods and, moreover, for the bullying of the Jewish people he promised to erect a monument to him in Warsaw, ”Putin emphasized.

In addition, during a conversation with the leaders of both houses of the Russian parliament, the head of state noted that, unlike some other heads of European countries, Joseph Stalin “did not tarnish” himself with a personal meeting with Hitler.

“Stalin, as if not to relate to him, did not tarnish himself with direct contact with Hitler. He did not meet with him. And the top officials of the largest European states did this, ”Putin said.

During a meeting with Putin, Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko said the senators proposed an initiative that would protect monuments and memorials dedicated to World War II.

“The Federal Assembly took the initiative at the plenary meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly to recognize the victory over Nazism as the world heritage of mankind, as well as create a unified register of monuments, memorials to fighters against Nazism in all countries and assign it the status of a single World War II memorial to stop those cases of vandalism fighting the memory of soldiers who died for the liberation of Europe, ”she said.

In addition, Russia concluded with other CIS countries in the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the organization about an action plan that unites efforts in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Matvienko added.

“People do not know the story”

On September 19, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the importance of European memory for the future of Europe. It states that countries in the legislature "have expressed concern about the efforts of the current Russian government to whitewash the crimes committed by the Soviet totalitarian regime."

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called this resolution a set of revisionist statements.

“This resolution is nothing more than a set of revisionist statements. The European Parliament noted yet another outrageous attempt to equate Nazi Germany - the aggressor country - with the USSR, whose peoples, at the cost of huge sacrifices, freed Europe from fascism, ”the Foreign Ministry website quoted her as saying.

Vladimir Putin has previously commented on the resolution of the European Parliament during a major press conference on December 19. Then the president of Russia called this decision unacceptable.

“I consider it absolutely unacceptable and incorrect, because you can anathematize both Stalinism and totalitarianism in general, and in some ways it will be well-deserved reproaches, of course,” Putin said. “But to equate the Soviet Union or to put the Soviet Union and fascist Germany on the same level is the height of cynicism. This means people don’t know history, they don’t know how to read and write. ”
