The National Police has arrested an individual of Moroccan origin and tries to locate a second as alleged perpetrators of the double sexual assault that a young foreigner suffered in Marbella last weekend.

Sources close to the case consulted by EL MUNDO reported that the events occurred after the victim, who was apparently on vacation, met two individuals in the leisure area of ​​Puerto Banús . After a while together, and when the girl allegedly had her abilities diminished by circumstances under investigation, the three ended up in an apartment located in another point of the town.

It was inside this building where the alleged sexual attack was perpetrated - apparently - when the victim was unconscious. At the time he woke up, and realized what happened, he contacted the National Police.

The agents applied the protocol established for this type of crime and offered healthcare to the victim, to then focus on the resolution of the case.

The aforementioned sources explained that one of the two individuals was quickly arrested, who was taken to police offices to testify and continue the investigations. Police efforts are now focused on trying to locate the other individual, who is in search and capture for his alleged involvement in the events.

The detainee, of Moroccan origin, like the other individual, was brought to justice on Sunday accused of a crime of sexual abuse.

Rise of serious sexual crimes

The latest crime report from the Ministry of Interior, which studies the criminal acts accumulated from January to September, warns of a worrying increase in serious sexual crimes in the Andalusian community.

During the first three quarters 192 aggressions with penetration have been counted , 40 more than in the same period of 2018, which represents an increase of 26.3 percent. This is almost ten percentage points more than the rise experienced in the province of Malaga, where there are 29 to 34 cases.

The increase recorded by crimes against freedom and sexual compensation in the region is more moderate - from 1803 to 1891 - and stands at 4.9 percent. In Malaga, on the contrary, there is a decrease of 4.1 percent, from 439 to 431 during the same comparison period.

The rest of the crimes - milder - with a sexual background also increase in Andalusia: from 1,651 to 1,699.
