“We express serious concern about the recent negative statements by the American side regarding Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibet,” TASS quoted China’s Central Television Chairman as saying.

Xi Jinping emphasized that Beijing regards such actions as attempts to interfere in its internal affairs.

“These actions are an interference in the internal affairs of China, undermining the interests of China and do not correspond to bilateral mutual trust and cooperation,” he said.

In late November, the United States passed a law on democracy and human rights in Hong Kong.

In response, China imposed sanctions against some non-governmental American organizations.
